The Nanny Centre New Zealand Certificate in Early Childcare and Home Management
Incorporating The National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care Level 3
This is a 24 week course made up of 11 modules. This consists of 6 theory modules (14 weeks) alternating with 5 practical experience modules (10 weeks). Practical experience modules involve working with babies and children of all ages, and a range of child-related home management tasks. There is also the option of experience in childcare facilities, primary schools and in the area of special needs.
When on practical experience students will be required to complete eight hour days Monday to Friday under supervision and will be visited by a Centre tutor for assessment. The minimum requirement is three on-site assessments, but normally every practicum is visited for assessment purposes. A reference from each practicum is an important component in overall assessment.
Lecture modules are from 8.30am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
Students are required to keep written records of their work which are assessed regularly and practical resources are compiled as the course progresses. Unit standards = 88 credits
