F-A-QThe following questions are our most frequently asked. If you need the answer to any question that is not listed, please contact us with your question, and we will endeavour to answer it promptly and accurately. What will your service cost me? You will pay nothing until you have selected a nanny, and offered the position to them. For placement fees please contact us and we will email / post you a copy of our Terms of Trade.
We usually suggest a minimum of three consecutive hours.
Over 80% of our nannies do. If the nanny is 21 years old or less she/he will have a minimum of level three Certification in Childcare. For Nannies above 21 with a minimum of two years experience in childcare, a formal qualification is not essential, although we encourage all Nannies to undertake a formal Qualification.
We do work with our own graduates, but we also have Nannies from other Institutions and backgrounds. They range from Mother Help Positions to Junior Nannies and through to Granny Nannies.
If the Nanny has been trained at The Nanny Centre NZ, they can qualify with "The Nanny Centre NZ Certificate" as well as either "The National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care" (level 3 or level 5). Nannies from other Training Institutions may have "The National Nanny Certificate", other qualifications may include; Early Childhood Education (Diploma or Degree), Diploma of Teaching, Nurse Registration, Midwifery or Karitane Qualifications.
Yes. Most Nannies are more than happy with this, but we do suggest you speak with the nanny at the time of interview about it. It can be an excellent support for the nanny as well as the family in educating children in the home. The Note: As each home based education programme provider has different criteria, it is the responsibility of the family to ensure they understand these terms and meet them accordingly. TAXATION Who is responsible for the taxation of the nannies wage? If the nanny is employed for an ongoing period of 30 hours or more per week, the family is responsible. You will need to register as an employer. If the nanny is employed on a temporary basis, or if he/she is working less than 30 hours per week, the nanny is responsible for her/his own Taxation as an IR56 Taxpayer. How do I register as an employer? ***You will need to request an IR333 First time Employers Guide from the Inland Revenue Department. Phone 0800 257 773 – you will need your IRD number on hand when you visit their website; www.ird.govt.nz
